Fast Track

CREATING OPPORTUNITIES FOR WOMEN + GIRLS

The Fast Track program has been developed to provide opportunities for committed women and girls to access and experience high performance coaching and support services that will enable them to develop their performance both on and off the green.

Through involvement in the Fast Track program, Bowls Victoria hope to empower women to become leaders within their bowling communities whether that be at club, region or state level.

THE EVOLUTION OF FAST TRACK

The initial Fast Track Performance Pathway event was held at Brighton BC on Sunday 28 October 2012. The event saw 25 talented female bowlers participate in a range of activities and listen to guest speakers Mary Toomey, Athlete Wellbeing Manager at Netball Australia and Dr. Noel Blundell, Sports Psychologist.

In 2013, the program continued in the form of the Fast Track Winter Training & Development Series. The Fast Track group undertook 5 sessions over the course of the off-season with guest appearances by some of Victoria’s highest profile bowlers and coaches. Nicole Shortis, Mark Cowan, Lisa Phillips, Barrie Lester, Rob Huddle, Carol Ashby, Graeme Archer, Sam Shannahan, Lee Schraner, Holly Simmons, Todd Simmons & Dylan Fisher all assisted throughout the series and their input was invaluable to the success of the program. Each shared their experiences in the sport, how they overcame challenges along the way, and helpful advice and tips that got them to the top in their field.
